Study Review

A research team at Columbia University, in New York City, is conducting two studies: one is investigating the effectiveness of Omega-3 fatty acid; the second is investigating the effectiveness of Glucosamine and Chondroitin. Both studies are assessing whether a dietary supplement can reduce joint pain and stiffness associated with the aromatase inhibitors used to treat breast cancer. The researchers wanted to enroll at least 50 volunteers in each study. The Call to Action for this study was sent to Army of Women members on May 26, 2010. When the researchers closed enrollment on August 19, 2011, the Army of Women had provided them with 85 women who were interested in enrolling in the studies.

Love Research Army

We combat the disparities that exist in research by challenging the scientific community to launch studies that are as inclusive and diverse as the people that breast cancer affects.
