Researcher

Dunya Atisha Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC

Study Review

The overall goal of this study at the Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, is to learn about the impact breast-conserving surgery/lumpectomy, mastectomy, or mastectomy with breast reconstruction have on a woman’s quality of life, general health care experience, and satisfaction with care and outcomes. The research team wanted to enroll as many breast cancer survivors as possible who were interested in participating in their online survey. The Call to Action for this study was sent to Army of Women members on May 24, 2012. The researchers were able to close enrollment on August 21, 2012, after the Army of Women provided them with 9,282 women who were interested in enrolling in the study.
