Study Review

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the long-term effects of the chemotherapy drugs used to treat cancer on the ears (hearing and tinnitus) and hands and feet (neuropathy). To better understand the impact chemotherapy has on these aspects of quality of life, a research team at the University of California, San Francisco, is seeking people who have had a diagnosis of stage I – IV breast, gynecological, gastrointestinal, or lung cancer and have received chemotherapy to participate in a one-visit study.

The initial Call to Action for this study was on 11/27/2018 and the researchers closed enrollment on 04/06/2020. The Love Research Army provided them with 106 participants who were interested in enrolling in the study.

We combat the disparities that exist in research by challenging the scientific community to launch studies that are as inclusive and diverse as the people that breast cancer affects.
