Study Review

The purpose of this study was to understand the financial experiences of women with breast cancer who choose breast reconstruction after a mastectomy. A research team from the University of Michigan developed an anonymous online survey that helped them learn more about patient-provider communication, how breast cancer patients make medical decisions related to breast reconstruction, and the impact their reconstruction decision has on their financial well-being.

The initial Call to Action for this study was on October 10th, 2019 and the researchers closed enrollment on September 17th, 2020. The study enrolled 920 participants, many of whom were sourced through the Love Research Army.
