Study Review
Little is known about the impact breast cancer and its treatments have on men diagnosed with the disease. A research team led by Deanna Attai, MD, at the University of California, Los Angeles, wants to better understand how breast cancer impacts men’s quality of life and the collateral damage they experience from the disease and its treatments. Collateral damage includes the physical, functional, psychological, emotional, social, vocational, and financial affects of a cancer diagnosis. The research team developed a five-question survey for men who are currently being or have been treated for breast cancer. The research team will use the responses to develop a comprehensive questionnaire it will distribute to a larger number of men.
The initial Call to Action for this study was on 02/06/2021 and the researchers closed enrollment on 02/16/2021. The study enrolled 50 participants in this pilot study, 28 of whom were sourced through the Love Research Army.
