Inflammatory Responses, Mood, and Physical Fitness after Cancer Treatment (IMPACT) Study

Researcher

Study Review

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between your cardiovascular fitness and your body’s immune response, as both may be related to fatigue (tiredness), mood, pain sensitivity, memory, and concentration—known side effects of cancer and its treatments. By learning if people with better cardiovascular fitness have lower inflammation, researchers will be able to discover whether and how regular exercise benefits breast cancer survivors.

The initial Call to Action for this study was on 09/07/2016 and the researchers closed enrollment on 03/08/2021. The Love Research Army provided them with 59 participants who were interested in enrolling in the study.

We combat the disparities that exist in research by challenging the scientific community to launch studies that are as inclusive and diverse as the people that breast cancer affects.
