Women’s Health Survivorship Care Plan Study

Researcher

Irene Su, MD, MSCE, University of California, San Diego

Study Review

The purpose of this study was to test a reproductive health survivorship care plan developed specifically for young breast cancer survivors that addressed reproductive health concerns such as hot flashes, fertility, birth control, genetics, and sexual function. These are topics that are not addressed in most survivorship care plans. The researchers turned to the Army of Women (AOW) to enroll up to 150 volunteers from anywhere in the U.S. The Call to Action for this study was sent to AOW members on October 12, 2016. The researchers closed enrollment on May 16, 2017, after the AOW provided them with 251 women who were interested in enrolling in the study.

Love Research Army

We combat the disparities that exist in research by challenging the scientific community to launch studies that are as inclusive and diverse as the people that breast cancer affects.
