Study Review
The purpose of this study was to test the effects of three physical activity programs among women diagnosed with stage 0 to stage 3 breast cancer within the past five years. This was a randomized controlled trial, therefore the research team was interested to see which program(s) helped participants increase and maintain their level of physical activity. Survivors’ mood, fatigue, and quality of life were also examined over the one-year duration.
The researchers turned to the Army of Women (AOW) to enroll up to 150 volunteers in eastern time zone (ET) states. The initial Call to Action for this study was sent to AOW members on October 18th, 2017. The researchers closed enrollment on December 12th, 2018, after the AOW provided them with 118 women who were interested in enrolling in the study.
