The pink fog that envelopes October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month gets a lot of bad press, but there’s a silver lining on that pink cloud for organizations like the Dr. Susan Love Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. The silver lining is in the form of vital funding that helps us continue our groundbreaking work to push the envelope on breast cancer research.

We’re grateful to our partners who bring you great products with a higher purpose… to direct part of the money you spend into fueling progress to find the cause and prevention for breast cancer.

At the end of the day, it’s YOU who makes the difference in our ability to continue our research by voting with your purse or, in the case of the PUMA campaign, voting through Facebook. So thank YOU for Acting with Love last month and supporting our partners who “share the silver” with the Dr. Susan Love Foundation for Breast Cancer Research.

Here are some of the highlights: Ford Warriors in Pink and actor Gilles Marini hit New York City by storm early in the month to promote Gilles’ “Unis Par L’Amour” (United with Love) t-shirt. Throughout October, Gilles was spotted sporting his exclusive t-shirt on Ellen and Celebrity Baby Scoop, driving sales of the shirt for which 100% of the proceeds benefit the Foundation. 3,000 t-shirts have been sold since the late September launch, representing over $35,000 in donations to the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation! When you choose Dr. Susan Love Foundation for Breast Cancer Research at checkout, 100% of the proceeds of your entire purchase is donated to us.

We were over the moon when PUMA announced Dr. Susan Love Foundation for Breast Cancer Research had received the most votes for the 2013 Project Pink program for the third year running! Thank YOU for voting every day and sharing our calls to vote on Facebook to bring us $50,036 in much-needed funding.

A healthy diet and regular exercise are keys to keeping breast cancer at bay, but everyone deserves the occasional treat. So, we were delighted when Southern Californians turned up at Panera Bread locations during October to treat themselves to the Pink Ribbon Bagel, a yummy combination of cherries, cranberries, vanilla, brown sugar and honey. Local Panera cafes donated 10 cents from every Pink Ribbon Bagel sold in October and 100% of the PRB sales on October 18. More than 26,000 Pink Ribbon Bagels were purchased at 66 Southern California cafes. Doing good never tasted so great.

Love Research Army

We combat the disparities that exist in research by challenging the scientific community to launch studies that are as inclusive and diverse as the people that breast cancer affects.
