The Dr. Susan Love Foundation for Breast Cancer Research is pleased to announce that the second questionnaire of its Health of Women [HOW] Study has been released and is available for completion! The HOW Study is an online cohort study open to both those with and without a previous history of breast cancer. Participants are asked to complete periodic online questionnaires that cover a variety of topics to give us a view of what people are doing and how their health is being affected. In addition, we will be asking specific questions of women and men living with breast cancer to help us examine factors related to long term survival as well as the real side effects of long term treatment.

The HOW Study was launched in October 2012 and at that time, the first HOW questionnaire, which focuses on general health measures as well as reproductive health histories for our female participants, was available for completion. We are now excited to announce that our second questionnaire, which will ask participants about their personal and family health histories, is also available for completion. In addition to these two questionnaires, there are breast cancer-specific questionnaires available for our participants with a previous history of breast cancer so we can gather information about their diagnosis and treatment.

The HOW Study currently has over 45,000 participants, but enrollment is still open to those interested in taking part. The study is open to anyone aged 18 or older, regardless of medical history, gender, or location. We think it’s important to include everyone in the study so that the answers we find will be relevant to everyone.

Love Research Army

We combat the disparities that exist in research by challenging the scientific community to launch studies that are as inclusive and diverse as the people that breast cancer affects.
