" More than 1,000 walkers, runners, kids, and dogs stepped out on May 18 in Pacific Palisades and in 71 cities across the U.S. to benefit Dr. Susan Love Foundation for Breast Cancer Research’s programs. But wait! There’s still time to support Walk With Love 2014. Click here to help us blow past $250,000! Read on about some of the amazing participants in Walk With Love 2014. Dr. Taras.com Rocks the Walk When Ian Taras, MD calls, people answer. The Woodland Hills-based gynecologist and philanthropist and his team, Dr. Taras.com, rallied to support Dr. Susan Love Foundation for Breast Cancer Research’s Walk With Love 2014, grabbing the Top Fundraiser ($38,503) and Top Team (110 participants raising $51,201 to date) awards. Dr. Taras’ mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 47. When he and his sister learned they carry the BRCA gene mutation, his sister had a prophylactic mastectomy to reduce her risk of breast cancer, and Dr. Taras switched into high gear to support research that focuses on the cause and prevention of breast cancer. Thank you, Dr. Taras and Dr. Taras.com for joining Dr. Susan Love Foundation for Breast Cancer Research’s team! Colten’s Crew Walks the Talk in Four Cities Mary Tramonte was seven months pregnant when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her son, Colten was born shortly thereafter and his aunt, Sally Ohle, formed Colten’s Crew to Walk With Love virtually in Akron, Ohio in 2013. Unfortunately, Mary received a second breast cancer diagnosis earlier this year. Colten’s Crew was back with a vengeance to support Dr. Susan Love Foundation for Breast Cancer Research, with 54 team members walking in Akron, Denver, New Orleans, and Pacific Palisades. Colten’s Crew’s main Walk With Love event on May 18 in Akron, Ohio featured live music, food trucks and yoga sessions for 50 team members and more than 60 local residents who turned out on the day. The team raised more than $9,000 to support the Foundation’s programs. Way to go, Colten’s Crew! Thanks for all you do to help us create a future without breast cancer. New Sponsor Steps Up Her Game Skin Remedies Medical’s founder and CEO, Carrie Edler chose to Walk With Love in 2013 following her diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer. The mother of two, Carrie wanted to make a difference for other women by supporting research into the cause and prevention of breast cancer. When she received a second diagnosis this year, Carrie stepped up her pursuit of a future without breast cancer by bringing back Team CARE (66 members, $19,978 raised to date) as well as offering Skin Remedies Medical as a Platinum level sponsor of Walk With Love 2014. Thank you, Carrie, for your selfless dedication and passion for our mission.
